Research Field

Prof. Hsieh as a teacher in NCKU RE, specializing in the teaching and research of oil and gas engineering, geothermal reservoir engineering, and carbon sequestration engineering. The Carbon Dioxide Sequestration Reservoir Engineering (CO2RE) Lab is based on petroleum engineering and oil reservoir engineering, and uses reservoir numerical simulation as a method. Practical engineering research on natural gas resources (including gas hydrate, oil sand, shale gas, etc.). Prof. Hsieh's lab also uses petroleum engineering knowledge and underground fluid flow simulation methods to conduct forward-looking energy research such as carbon dioxide geological storage (carbon reduction engineering) and geothermal reservoir development engineering (underground green energy development). The lab uses numerical simulation software commercially available in the petroleum engineering industry (including professional reservoir simulation software from CMG, Schlumberger, and Baker Hughes). It is the only academic research laboratory in Taiwan specializing in petroleum engineering and geothermal reservoir engineering.
